Sourcing components in a complex global supplier network may lead to a high degree of supply uncertainty. Events, such as unexpected production defects or insufficient supplier capacity, can cause unexpected shortages of required components and halt the assembly of final products. Accordingly, the assembly enterprises must effectively manage various supply uncertainties in their component ordering decisions to avoid such component shortfalls. These issues have guided this research to investigate the optimal ordering strategies of an assembler facing the following two types of supply uncertainty: the uncertain production capacity of a standard component (component 1) and the random production yield of a core component (component 2). The assembler makes the component ordering decisions before these supply uncertainties are realized. We characterize the optimal ordering decision and find that the assembler should order components 1 and 2 according to a fixed ratio, which only depends on the random yield of component 2 and the production cost of component 1, but not on the uncertain capacity of component 1. A case study is presented to further explore the intertwined effects of these two uncertainties in an assembly system. Finally, the model is extended to consider a secondary option of buying additional component 1 s after observing some or all of the supply uncertainties, and this secondary option endows the firm with different capabilities in counteracting the supply uncertainties.  相似文献

提高数据的完备与真实性是水资源监控能力建设的关键。针对国家水资源监控能力建设项目实施以来其监测数据呈现出的异常特征,按照“先粗筛后精选”逻辑,并考虑取用水季节性周期波动的特点,提出采用拉依达准则-模态分解-傅里叶残差修正的水监测数据异常值识别方法,并根据粒子群优化最小二乘支持向量机模型实现对异常数据的重构恢复。通过对企业取用水数据的实例分析,结果表明分段式拉依达准则在其监测异常数据的粗筛中具有较好的适用性,利用傅里叶修正集合模态分解的监测数据序列可取得更佳的拟合效果,从而达到异常数据精选的目的;而粒子群优化最小二乘支持向量机模型对异常数据重构恢复的可信度高于普通最小二乘支持向量机及传统曲线拟合数据重构方法,即该类取用水监测异常数据重构方法可有助于进一步推进其监测数据对实际水资源状态的客观反映。  相似文献

Traditional data envelopment analysis (DEA) focuses exclusively on measuring the overall efficiency of a decision making unit (DMU). Yet, variables that have explanatory power for the overall operational inefficiency of a DMU may not necessarily be the same as those that affect its individual input inefficiencies. On many occasions, variables that explain the overall inefficiency of a DMU can be inconsistent or incongruent with those that cause its individual input inefficiencies. Therefore, we conjecture that an overall inefficiency score alone may have limited value for decision making since such a process requires fine-tuning and adjustments of specific input factors of the DMU in order to maximize its overall efficiency. In this paper, the utilization and financial data of a set of hospitals in California is used to empirically test the above conjecture.Our study has several important contributions and practical implications. First, we fine-tune previous efficiency measures on hospitals by refining input and output measures. Second, with variables on organization, management, demographics, and market competition, we identify specific factors associated with a hospital's overall operational inefficiency. More importantly, by decomposing the overall DEA operational inefficiency score into different individual input inefficiencies (including slacks), we further identify specific variables that cause individual input inefficiency. Third, significant differences are observed among factors of the overall inefficiency and individual input inefficiencies. These findings have important implications for identifying congruent factors for performance standard setting and evaluation; it also provides invaluable information for guiding effective resource allocation and better decision making for improving hospital operational efficiency.  相似文献

Facility location problems in the plane play an important role in mathematical programming. When looking for new locations in modeling real-world problems, we are often confronted with forbidden regions, that are not feasible for the placement of new locations. Furthermore these forbidden regions may have complicated shapes, even if we require them to be convex. It may be more useful or even necessary to use approximations of such forbidden regions when trying to solve location problems. In this paper, we develop error bounds for the approximative solution of restricted planar location problems using the so called sandwich algorithm. The number of approximation steps required to achieve a specified error bound is analyzed. As examples of these approximation schemes, we discuss round norms and polyhedral norms.
